SecureHow it works
Three steps to spec-led quotes
Specification-minded homeowners compare quotes this way — enter your details once, get matched with vetted local installers, and review free no-obligation quotes you can actually read.
Tell us the basics
Confirm you own the home and share your postcode and contact details. It takes under a minute and there is no obligation.
Get matched locally
We match your enquiry with vetted, accredited installers covering your area, so quotes come from firms who work to recognised standards.
Compare like a pro
Use our spec guides to read each quote on the numbers that matter — glass make-up, frame profile, U-value and security rating — before you decide.
Accreditations and guarantees vary by installer and are confirmed at survey. Prefer to read customer feedback first? You can see verified installer reviews on our sister site before you enquire.
The spec sheet
The four numbers that decide a window
Most quotes lead on price and colour. A pro reads the specification first — because that is what determines warmth, quiet, security and how long the window lasts.
- Glass
- Low-E coatings and gas fills. A soft-coat low-emissivity pane with an argon-filled cavity reflects heat back indoors — the single biggest lever on a unit’s thermal performance.
- Frame
- Chambers and profile depth. More internal chambers in a uPVC profile trap more still air, improving insulation and rigidity. Depth and reinforcement matter for larger openings.
- U-value
- Whole-window heat loss. Lower is better. The whole-window U-value (not just the glass centre-pane figure) is the number to compare like-for-like across quotes.
- Security
- PAS 24 and locking. PAS 24 is the enhanced-security benchmark for new windows and doors, backed by multi-point locking and laminated glass on vulnerable openings.
What pros check
Before you sign, run these checks
Like-for-like specs
Compare the same glass, frame and U-value across every quote — not a budget unit against a premium one.
Full itemisation
A clear quote lists units, sizes, glazing spec, hardware and fitting — so you know precisely what is included.
Accreditation & guarantee
Check the installer’s FENSA or CERTASS registration and ask about an insurance-backed guarantee.
Survey before deposit
Any firm should measure and survey before a fixed price. Funding options are subject to eligibility and that survey.

Learn the detail before you buy
